Why the Gulf is the first export lane
Indian export records for paper corner board and edge protectors (HS 48239090) put Saudi Arabia and Bahrain at the top of the destination list for angle board, and Saudi Arabia second for edge protectors overall. That matters for a buyer in Dammam or Jebel Ali: the lane already exists, forwarders already quote it, and customs officers already know what the product is.
Freight is the other reason. Paper edge protection is light and bulky, so a container fills by volume long before it fills by weight. On a four-to-ten-day sailing that is a manageable cost; on a four-week sailing to northern Europe it is a much bigger share of the landed price. The Gulf is where Indian paper packaging competes on cost as well as on specification.
What buyers in the region are actually searching for
When we looked at what Gulf purchase teams type into a search box, it was supplier language: edge protector suppliers in UAE, edge board manufacturers, corner guard supplier in Qatar, packaging material suppliers in Dubai. In the region, "corner guard" is used for packaging as well as for walls, and "edge board", "carton angle" and "edge protector" all mean the same L-profile board. We answer to all of them.
Much of the edge protection sold in the UAE goes through traders and stockists rather than local manufacturers. That is why we run a distributor programme alongside direct container supply to end users.
Paper removes the timber problem
Every GCC state applies ISPM-15 to wood packaging, which means heat treatment, a stamped IPPC mark and a registered treatment provider behind each timber pallet. Our paper pallets and edge protectors contain no wood, so the standard does not reach them. There is no treatment certificate to chase and no stamp to be rubbed off in transit.
